The fairest flower, may I ask you?  
The fairest flower, Where do you blossom? 
我愛伊　永遠未歛　我愛伊　永遠未謝 
I love you, It will never be ceased,  
I love you, And it will never be faded, 
我愛伊　永遠清香　我愛伊　永遠美麗 
I love you, It will always smell fresh,  
I love you, And it will always be so beautiful! 
我聽見花偷偷也跟我講﹕ 
我沒開在Rocky　我沒開在Canyon 
I have flower speaks to me secretly,  
I did not blossom at Rocky,  
I did not blossom at Canyon, 
我孤開在妳心中　妳日夜思念的故鄉　上美的花 
I only blossom in your heart,  
The homeland your dream and thoughts day and night, 
The fairest flower.

◎ 這首詩的靈魂在「Rocky」與「Canyon」倆個活字﹐依理﹐最美的花不是開在最高的山﹐就是開在最低的山谷（美洲最高山為洛磯山﹐最低的谷乃大峽谷）然而﹐它竟開在心中日夜思念的故鄉﹔是故﹐身居日本時你大可改唱為Fuji與Tani﹐羈旅歐洲時亦不妨高歌為Alps與Rhine…。 
The spirit of this poem in "Rocky" and "Canyon", literally The fairest flower will either bloom on highest mountain or lowest valley (in North America highest mountain is Rocky and lowest valley is Canyon), however, she blooms in the homeland that we dreamt of days and nights, so, when you lived in Japan, you could change to Fuji and Tani, in Europe you can sing Alps and Rhine..... 
 
◎ 這首《上美的花》的台文詩﹐是旅居加拿大的作家東方白先生生平第一首詩﹐92年11月13日《蕭泰然小提琴協奏曲》於聖地牙哥世界首演之翌日﹐由其親自朗誦﹐想不到在座的蕭泰然教授十分激賞﹐靈感大發﹐回家后即譜成曲。 
This Taiwanese poem "The fairest flower" is the first poem composed by author Mr. Tang Hong-Peh who lived in Canada, on 13th November 1992 "Tyzen Hsiao Violin Concerto" the next day of the grand performance, he recites personally, surprising Professor Tyzen Hsiao likes it very much and stimulated his sentiment which composed the song when he goes home.
